Arfisyana Indah Phinisi
Forty-four answers for the person holding the list
Updated 8 November 2026
Group trip questions about Arfisyana, answered: 44 of them, from rooming and the fare by headcount to pickup, payment and weather. Each answer carries its own figures, so you can paste one into the group chat. Capacity is 20 guests across 5 cabins.
Group leaders' questions, answered by topic
Seven groups follow. They run in the order a leader meets them: the boat first, then rooms, money, the route, getting there, booking, and last the sea and the children.
Each answer holds its own numbers, so you can copy one into a message to your committee, your head of school or your uncle with the opinions. Nothing needs hunting down or translating on the way. The page behind it goes deeper.
Where a detail depends on your dates or your group, the answer names what we put in writing for you ahead of payment. A leader can plan around a written answer.
Still stuck: send the headcount and the dates
If your question is not here, send the headcount and the dates on WhatsApp, and put the question in the same message. We answer in writing, so you can forward the reply to the rest of the group without retyping it.
If the question is about the rooms, say who will sleep together. If it is about money, say the headcount. If it is about the route, say how many days, and tell us whether anyone in the party cannot manage a steep path or a strong current. The more you tell us, the less we ask, and the faster you hear back during our opening hours.
We read every question. The ones that repeat end up in this list, and the list grows a little each season as groups send us the things they wish the website had told them before they asked.
Booking, paying and changing plans
Which dates are free, and how do we check?
Any date the boat is free. There is no weekday schedule; Arfisyana sails when your group does. Send two or three date options on WhatsApp and we check the boat live, which is quicker than any calendar on a website and does not go stale overnight. Treat a date as open only when we confirm it in writing, as of 8 November 2026. A hope is not a booking.
What is the deposit, by when must the balance arrive, and what if the plan falls through?
Hold the date with a 50 percent deposit. Settle what remains 30 days ahead of sailing. Cancel with 60 days or more to spare and 50 percent returns to you. Cancel at 30 to 59 days and it is 25 percent. Closer than that, nothing returns. A date change costs IDR 500,000 between 14 and 29 days out.
How do we pay from another country, and what does it cost?
Pay by card link (3 percent fee), PayPal (7.2 percent) or bank transfer. You can also settle the balance on departure day in cash, or on a card machine at 3 percent. Payment details come on one invoice.
What do we get if you swap the boat or cancel the trip yourselves?
If Arfisyana cannot sail, you pick one of two remedies. Either a substitute boat of at least the same class sails on your dates for no added cost, or the full fare is refunded within 2 days. You choose.
Is Komodo Explorer a genuine company, and where do we find the reviews and the right bank account?
Komodo Explorer is PT Komodo Explorer Indonesia, NIB 1805260128363, open Daily 08:00–20:00 (WITA). Payment goes to one account named on your invoice. The reviews on this site are reviews of Komodo Explorer as a booking company, each with its source; the reviews page explains them.
How far ahead should a group book, and are 2027 rates published?
Ask early for a full 20: we check the date live while you gather names, and it is held once the deposit is paid. Rates for 2027 are on request. The figures here come from the 2026 rate card, which runs to 31 December 2026.
What documents must the group leader send?
Send the name list exactly as on passports or ID about a week before sailing. Add one contact for the group. One. The park package per head and the deposit follow the booking steps. Tell us as soon as anyone drops out or joins.
Choosing a boat for the group
How many guests fit aboard Arfisyana, and is it a small boat?
Up to 20 guests in 5 cabins: 18 standard beds, and 20 when both Master Cabins add their extra bed. It is a boat for one group, not a hideaway for two. Plan for 20 voices on one deck. We never sell it for more than 20.
How is a whole-boat charter different from buying a seat on a shared boat?
Arfisyana is booked whole. You pay one fare for your headcount band, not a price for each seat, and your date waits for nobody else. This site lists no seats and no weekday schedule. Ask us whether a shared departure exists for your date; that is a different booking.
Our group is bigger than 20. What can we do?
One boat takes 20 at most, and we will not stretch Arfisyana past its beds. Send the full headcount and the dates on WhatsApp, and the reservation team tells you what can be arranged for a party of your size, in writing.
Is Arfisyana a big boat or a small one?
Arfisyana is a 29 m wooden phinisi for at most 20 guests, all from your party, on a round trip from Labuan Bajo. If you are comparing a bigger boat, ask us for its live headcount and cabin plan. Numbers beat adjectives.
Is there a minimum group size, and does the date wait for other bookings?
There is no minimum headcount. One to four guests pay the first band, and the boat is still yours alone. The date does not wait for other bookings: Arfisyana sails on the date we confirm in writing.
I am travelling alone or as a couple. Can I book a cabin?
Not on this site. Arfisyana is booked whole, so there are no single seats or cabins to sell. Ask us on WhatsApp whether a shared departure exists for your date; we print no price and no weekday here. A couple wanting privacy should also know that three of the five rooms have bunk beds.
Pickup, flights and getting around
When does the trip finish, and what is the earliest flight home?
The standard 3D2N docks near 12:00 on day three, so book a flight for the late afternoon or later. A one-day trip is back before sunset. For 2D1N and 4D3N we set the end time with your flights.
When and where is pickup, and when do we get the driver's contact?
On the 3D2N and 4D3N a car picks you up at a hotel in Labuan Bajo, or at the airport, between 10:00 and 11:00, and the boat sails at 11:00. We send the exact time and the driver's contact the day before, in writing.
How do 20 people get around Labuan Bajo, by taxi or minibus?
Pickup from hotel and airport is part of the charter at no charge. For other rides in town, a minivan or small bus is quoted per vehicle, not per person. Ask us for a quote and say how many travel together.
Is there a one-day speedboat that leaves at 07:00?
Speedboat day trips leave around 07:00, with hotel pickup between 06:00 and 07:00, and they are a different product from this charter. A day on the phinisi starts when you agree and ends before sunset.
Is it cheaper for a group to fly or to sail to Komodo?
Every charter here starts and ends in Labuan Bajo, so groups fly in. The boat is the trip itself and not a way to get anywhere. Compare flights for your whole headcount before you fix dates. Then read the journal note on fly or sail, which sets the options side by side for a party of this size.
Price, split and what is included
What does one guest pay in total, and which costs sit on top?
The fare is for the whole boat, so per person means fare divided by headcount: IDR 3,500,000 (≈ USD 215) each at 20 guests on the three-day route. On top come the park package per head, tips, flights, hotels, drinks you buy and the card fee of 3 percent. Guide and documentation are on request.
How should the group divide the fare between its members?
Divide the band fare by the headcount. On the three-day route, 20 guests pay IDR 3,500,000 (≈ USD 215) each. At 16 it is IDR 4,060,000 (≈ USD 249); at 12, IDR 5,000,000 (≈ USD 307); at 8, IDR 6,880,000 (≈ USD 422); at 4, IDR 12,500,000 (≈ USD 767). Collect one share per head, then the park package, then the deposit. Keep the three lines apart in your spreadsheet, so nobody argues later about which payment covered what.
What if the headcount changes after we book?
The band follows the final headcount: 1-4, 5-8, 9-12, 13-16 or 17-20. Tell us early, because a change across a band edge changes the fare. We confirm every change in writing and add no penalty beyond the booking terms. No surprises.
What is inside the fare, and what falls outside it?
Included: the whole boat with its crew, all meals, drinking water, tea and coffee, snorkel gear, towels and pickup both ways in Labuan Bajo. Excluded: the park package per head, tips, flights, hotels and drinks you buy. A guide and documentation come on request, quoted separately.
Does the boat fare swallow the Komodo park entry cost, and what cash should we carry?
The fee is never inside the boat fare. Komodo Explorer sells a park package per head, priced by trip type, and the park fee page prints the amounts. You pay it on top. Carry some cash for tips and small purchases ashore.
How much is park entry for foreign guests and for Indonesians?
The two differ, and the amounts depend on trip length. We quote the park package per head by trip type, for foreign and Indonesian guests separately, on the park fee page as of 8 November 2026. Check it again close to your date, because park rules change. Dates matter here.
Are tips included, and how much should we give?
Tips are not included and are always optional. Many groups pool a note for the crew at the end of the trip, handed over by one person on behalf of everybody aboard. We set no fixed amount per day; give what the service earned, in small notes, and keep them in a dry bag.
How does the kitchen handle special diets, and what is the rule on drinks brought aboard?
The chef cooks every meal on board. Tell us about vegetarian, halal, gluten-free or allergy needs early and we confirm them with the boat team; be specific. Ask us about alcohol before you pack any, and we answer in writing.
How much are the Komodo National Park fees with Komodo Explorer?
Komodo Explorer quotes the park as one package per guest: 3D2N: IDR 650,000 per foreign guest, IDR 350,000 per Indonesian guest; 4D3N: IDR 750,000 per foreign guest, IDR 350,000 per Indonesian guest. It covers the government entrance ticket (IDR 250,000 per foreign visitor per day, PP 36/2024), the ranger fee and local levies, and is paid on top of the boat price unless your quote says it is included.
Can I pay the balance on the departure day?
Yes. The standard terms stay the same: a 50% deposit confirms the date and the balance is due 30 days before departure, but you may also pay the balance in Labuan Bajo on the departure day, in cash or by card on the EDC machine. Card payment link 3%, PayPal 7.2%, EDC 3%; your issuing bank may add its own charges.
Rooms, beds and bathrooms
What separates a Master Cabin from a Sharing Room, and does every cabin have its own bathroom?
Two Master Cabins hold a double bed, with one extra bed on request, for two or three guests each. Three Sharing Rooms sleep four, six and four on bunks. All five carry their own bathroom, air conditioning and a window with a view of the sea.
How do 20 guests sleep in five cabins?
Put three in each Master Cabin, using the extra beds, then four, six and four in the Sharing Rooms: 3 + 3 + 4 + 6 + 4 makes 20. Without the extra beds the boat has 18 standard beds. The rooming guide shows four ways to split a group.
Do the cabins have air conditioning, a real window and Wi-Fi?
Every cabin has air conditioning, a sea-view window and its own bathroom. Ask us the hours the AC runs and we confirm them in writing. Wi-Fi is a local modem and the signal depends on location, so plan the group chat around gaps rather than around a connection you cannot count on.
Is it possible to put a third bed in a Master Cabin?
Yes. One extra bed per Master Cabin, on request, takes the room from two guests to three. We confirm the cost in writing ahead of payment. Ask when you send the headcount.
Can students and teachers, or boys and girls, sleep in separate rooms?
As planning advice, not a boat claim: teachers or chaperones take the Master Cabins, and students fill the Sharing Rooms by class or by gender. Tell us the split and we confirm it in writing. The bunk layout limits how finely you can cut it. Ask early. Ask twice if unsure.
What can we do about seasickness in the group?
Plain steps, no medical claims. Eat lightly, sit on deck in the fresh air, watch the horizon and drink water. Take any medicine your own doctor or pharmacist suggests before sailing, because the boat's first-aid kit is not a pharmacy and nobody should discover that at sea with a green-faced student. In rough weather the captain chooses calmer anchorages, and the sea decides which stop comes first.
Route, stops and the days aboard
On this boat's charter, do we reach Komodo Island and Padar, and also Pink Beach and Manta Point?
Yes, on the standard three-day route. Day two holds Padar at sunrise, Pink Beach, the Komodo Island ranger walk, Taka Makassar and Manta Point. Rinca is on the one-day sample only.
Do we come back to Labuan Bajo at the end, or finish in Lombok?
A round trip from Labuan Bajo. No Lombok leg. Pick a one-day, 2D1N, 3D2N or 4D3N charter; each starts and ends at the same harbour.
How many days does a group need?
Three days and two nights is the standard route and the one that reaches every famous stop. 2D1N compresses it and drops Komodo Island. The one-day and 4D3N routes are samples, finalised with the captain by weather and flights.
Do we snorkel only, and is the gear on board?
Snorkelling only. Snorkel gear is on board, and diving is not sold on this charter. If someone in your group wants more than a snorkel, ask us before you book.
Which charters follow a fixed route, and which a sample?
The 3D2N is the standard route, and two independent listings agree on it. The one-day, 2D1N and 4D3N charters are priced on the same bands but run as sample routes, finalised with the captain by weather and your flights.
Is there a half-day sunset trip to Kalong and Kelor?
A half-day sunset run exists as a separate Komodo Explorer product, about 14:00 to 19:00 via Kelor, Manjarite and Kalong. It is not on Arfisyana, which is booked whole. Ask us what it includes; we print no price here.
Season, sea, safety and children
Is sailing still on after a weather warning, and what if the harbour closes it?
The captain and the harbour master decide whether Arfisyana sails. If sailing is closed, we move your date or refund under the booking terms. Anything we say about a closure is dated, so verify it close to your trip; this answer is as of 8 November 2026.
Is Komodo closed in 2026, and does a daily visitor limit affect groups?
The park manages daily visitor numbers; our journal note dated 8 November 2026 reports the cap with its sources, and no closure date is given here. The park authority and the harbour master publish such rules, and rules change, so verify before travelling. Book early so your date is secured. When a notice touches your dates, you hear from us in writing the moment we know. This answer is as of 8 November 2026.
How do children's fares, ages and beds work?
Children aged 0–2 travel free with a parent. A child from age 3 up counts as a full guest when we place you in a band. Children share a cabin with their family, on double or bunk beds, and life jackets are on board.
Do school groups need special permits, and is a phinisi safe for students?
Send the ID list; the park package per head covers entry for each student. We promise no extra permit, and school letters and parent consent are the school's job. On board: life jackets, a life raft, lifebuoys, a fire extinguisher, a first-aid kit, GPS and radio. The captain's call on weather comes first.
