Arfisyana Indah Phinisi
Climb at dawn, swim at noon, count heads at every landing
Updated 8 November 2026
A Komodo trek and snorkel group trip on Arfisyana packs the Padar climb, the Komodo Island ranger walk and four snorkel stops into 3 days. Up to 20 guests share the boat, and 16 active guests pay IDR 4,060,000 (≈ USD 249) each.
Trek, snorkel, repeat: the active 3D2N for 20
The standard 3D2N is already an active route. Nothing needs to be added to it. You only need to read it the way a fit group will.
Day one: the car arrives between 10:00 and 11:00, and the boat leaves at 11:00. The first landing is Kelor, a short walk that is steep at the end. A snorkel at Manjarite follows, then sunset at Kalong and dinner at anchor.
Day two is the heavy one. Padar at sunrise, breakfast, Pink Beach, the Komodo Island ranger walk, lunch, a snorkel at Taka Makassar, and another at Manta Point.
Day three is lighter: breakfast, a snorkel at Kanawa, and Labuan Bajo again near 12:00. That makes three walks and four snorkels in total, with the boat as base camp between them.
Sleep matters on a route like this. Rooms are sorted so that the early risers share and the night owls share, which the rooming plan helps with.
Padar pace: 30–45 minutes up, a water break at the first viewpoint
Pace: allow 30 to 45 minutes to the top, fewer for the keen and more for the careful. Nobody is timed. The slope is steep in places and loose underfoot, and the climb begins in the cool of the early morning, before the heat builds on the open ridge. The other boats are still at breakfast.
The water break comes at the first viewpoint. Stop there, drink, count heads, and let the stragglers catch up. Twenty people stretch into a long line on the path, and the break pulls it back together. Nobody gets left behind; that is the leader's job, and it is the whole point of the rule.
Set a meeting point at the top and a time to start down. Agree it at the foot, not on the ridge, where nobody wants to hear a plan.
Then go down slowly. Most slips happen on the way back, with weary legs and a camera in one hand. Shoes with grip are the one piece of kit that cannot be replaced by enthusiasm.
Four snorkel stops over three days, from Manjarite to Kanawa
The standard route holds four snorkels. Manjarite comes first, Taka Makassar and Manta Point share day two, and Kanawa closes the trip. Each is a short swim from the tender, and each is different.
Manjarite is the warm-up, a gentle first snorkel for the weakest swimmer. Taka Makassar is a sandbar with shallow water on both sides, and the swim feels gentle. Manta Point is the big one: the current can be strong, and the captain decides whether the group goes in. Sightings of mantas depend on the sea and the season, and nobody can promise one.
Kanawa on the last morning is a reef you can take slowly with weary legs. Treat it as the farewell swim.
Life jackets are on board. Say who is a weak swimmer when you book, and wear one in the current. It costs nothing and spares a bad afternoon.
Snorkelling only: gear is on board and diving is not sold
Every swim on this route is snorkelling. Snorkel gear is on board and it comes with the fare. Tell us who is small, who is large and who has a long beard, and we check with the boat team.
Diving is not sold on this boat. No dive equipment is listed, and no instructor travels with the group. Divers who want to dive should ask us before booking, and we say honestly whether anything can be arranged.
That is not a weakness. A group of 20 with mixed ability does better on a boat where everyone does the same thing at the same time. The strong swimmers go further, the weak ones stay close, and the headcount stays simple.
Each guest's share on an active trip for 12 or 16
An active trip costs what the 3D2N costs. A party of 12 pays IDR 5,000,000 (≈ USD 307) a head, and a party of 16 pays IDR 4,060,000 (≈ USD 249). Both are the whole-boat fare for that band, divided by the number of heads.
Bands matter. A fit group lands on 12 or 16 because that is how many friends said yes. The fare steps up at 5, 9, 13 and 17 guests. Four more people at the same price per head would bring a party of 12 up to 16, and each share would fall.
Cost per head: the park package is on top, per person. Tips, flights and hotels stay outside. A guide and documentation sit apart from the fare, on request.
Fix the headcount. Then fix the money. Active groups drift in and out until the week before sailing.
Sun, sea and shoes: the three-day packing list
Bring: shoes with grip for Padar and the Komodo Island walk, a second pair for the tender and the beach, and sandals for the boat. Three pairs sounds like a lot until the first one is wet.
Bring: a hat, sun cover for shoulders and arms, and a reusable water bottle for the climbs. The boat provides drinking water; the bottle saves you from asking at the landing.
Bring: a dry bag for phones and cameras, swimwear for each day, a light layer for the early starts and a small torch. Towels and snorkel gear are on board, so leave your own at home.
Do not bring a long list of electronics. Sockets are not listed for this boat, and a fit group that carries power banks does well enough. Leave valuables in the cabin and keep passports in one place, with the leader.
FAQ
Which water activities does the active trip include?
Snorkelling at four stops: Manjarite, Taka Makassar, Manta Point and Kanawa. Snorkel gear is on board and comes with the fare. Diving is not sold here. Divers should ask before booking and get a plain answer.
Which walks does the trip include besides Padar?
Day one has Kelor, a short walk that turns steep at the end. The Komodo Island ranger walk comes on day two, after Pink Beach. Padar is the long climb, at sunrise on day two, and takes a fit adult 30 to 45 minutes. Day three has no walk, only a snorkel and the return.
What happens to a climb if the weather turns?
The captain and the harbour master decide whether the boat sails, and the captain chooses stops and anchorages by weather. A climb can move to another morning or be dropped. If sailing is closed before you leave, the date moves or the terms apply, in writing.
