29 m of wood, 5.15 m across, 7–9 knots: the boat on paper

Arfisyana Indah Phinisi is a wooden phinisi with her home port in Labuan Bajo. She is 29 m long and 5.15 m across, over three decks, and cruises at 7–9 knots. That is a walking-and-swimming pace: the boat moves between stops while the group eats, naps or watches the shore.

She has five cabins and takes up to 20 guests. The main deck carries a covered, open-sided saloon. The top deck is the sun deck. A tender speedboat carries the group to beaches where the big boat cannot go.

GPS and radio are on board. A local Wi-Fi modem works where the signal reaches, and the signal depends on location.

Those are the figures the boat's listings agree on. For anything else your group needs, ask; the reply comes in writing ahead of payment.

Up to 20 guests aboard, in five cabins with a bathroom each

Up to 20 guests in five cabins, and each cabin has its own bathroom. There are 18 standard beds, and the extra bed each Master Cabin takes on request brings the count to 20.

Read that as a boat for one group. Twenty guests, one captain's briefing, one headcount at the tender. It is not a boat for two guests who want nothing but the sound of the sea, and twenty friends, classmates or cousins make a fair amount of noise by dinner time.

Rooms split into two Masters for 3 guests each and three Sharing Rooms for 4, 6 and 4. The cabins page gives the bed type in every room and the plan for 20. For a party above 20, send the headcount and dates and we tell you what can be arranged.

Saloon, sun deck, lazy chairs and bean bags: the shared space

Start with the saloon, on the main deck. It is covered but open at the sides, with dining and lounge in one space, so the breeze comes through at every meal. The cabins have air conditioning; the saloon has the breeze.

The sun deck sits on the top deck. It has lazy chairs and bean bags, and it is where a group of 20 spreads out after Padar. Bring hats and a sarong for the midday hours.

Meals come from the chef, three a day, with drinking water, tea and coffee included. Snorkel gear and towels are on board. For landings at Kelor, Pink Beach and Kanawa the tender runs the group ashore in turns, so count heads at every run.

Life jackets, life raft, GPS and radio: the safety list

The safety list is plain: life jackets, a life raft, lifebuoys, a fire extinguisher and a first-aid kit. GPS and radio support the captain's navigation and contact.

For a group leader the question is whether the kit fits the headcount, and the answer is a request in writing. Ask us for the number and sizes of life jackets on board before you pay, especially if children or smaller students are coming. We confirm it with the boat team and send it to you.

Children up to age 2 travel free; ask us which life jackets fit them. From age 3 the full fare applies. Weather stays the captain's call. If the sea is wrong for your plan, the captain reshuffles the stops or holds the boat at anchor, and nobody argues with a swell.

Bed widths, AC hours, small life jackets: ask, and get it in writing

Some details matter to one group and not to the next: the bed widths, the deck of each cabin, the hours the AC runs, the number of small life jackets. Ask about any of them and the written answer reaches you before the payment does.

Plan on what this page gives you. Twenty-nine metres of wooden phinisi, five cabins with their own bathrooms, a covered saloon, a sun deck with its bean bags, a tender for landings, GPS, radio and the safety kit. That is the boat your group books, and it is enough for three days of walks, snorkels and long dinners at anchor.

The cabins page covers the rooms, the group charter page covers the money, and the signal and power guide explains what a phone can do aboard.

FAQ

How many people fit on the boat, and is it calm and quiet?

Up to 20 guests, in five cabins: 18 standard beds and 20 once both Master Cabins take their extra bed. It is a boat for one group, so expect a lively deck rather than silence. We make no promise of quiet, and no other party shares your boat.

What do the cabins have, and how good is the signal?

Every cabin pairs a private bathroom with AC and a sea window, and the AC hours are confirmed in writing on request. Wi-Fi comes from a local modem only, and the signal depends on location, so plan for gaps between stops and tell the group before it sails.

How big is Arfisyana, and does every route return to Labuan Bajo?

She is a 29 m wooden phinisi with five cabins and room for up to 20 guests, all from your party. Twenty is a number one leader can count at the tender. Each route is a loop from the Labuan Bajo quay. For a party above 20, ask us what can be arranged.
