Four guides for the person who counts the heads
Updated 8 November 2026
These group leader guides for Komodo cover the four questions a leader asks before sailing Arfisyana with up to 20 guests: how day one runs, who sleeps where, what the signal does, and how the nights at anchor work.
Guides for the person who leads the group
Somebody always ends up holding the list. A teacher, an HR lead, an alumni secretary or the eldest cousin. These four guides are written for that person, in the voice of a trip leader who has counted heads onto the tender many times and still counts them twice.
Each guide is short and practical. It gives times, numbers and the next action. None of them sells the boat; the fare and the route pages do that. They exist to answer the questions that arrive in the group chat three days before sailing.
Day one covers pickup, the briefing and the first evening. The rooming guide covers who sleeps where, with a plan for seasickness. The signal guide says what the Wi-Fi does and does not do, and how to charge. The anchorage guide covers the nights aboard.
Day one, hour by hour, for the person holding the listA group leader's day one on Arfisyana, hour by hour: pickup at 10:00-11:00, first headcount, briefing, Kelor, Manjarite, Kalong, dinner at anchor.
Twenty people, five cabins, and a plan for the ones who feel the swellWho sleeps where on a Komodo group charter: the rooming table for 20 in 5 cabins, four ways to split, and a plain seasickness plan. Print it.
Wi-Fi, power banks and a plan for when the phones go quietSignal and charging for a group on Arfisyana: a local Wi-Fi modem, signal that depends on location, no sockets listed, and a plan for 20 quiet phones.
Two nights at anchor for 20: where the boat stops and how the group sleepsNights at anchor on Arfisyana for 20 guests: how the captain picks the spot by weather, the night headcount, quiet hours and safety. Plan 2 nights.
Read them in this order
Start with the rooming guide, because it asks a decision of you. Who sleeps where decides the budget conversation, the chaperone plan and the list you send us. Do it first, with a pencil.
Then read day one. It walks you from the hotel lobby at 10:00 to 11:00 through the first headcount, the briefing, the first landing and dinner at anchor. Print it, or keep it on your phone.
Read the anchorage guide the week before sailing. It deals with quiet hours, the night headcount and the equipment on board.
Read the signal guide last, and act on it first. Download tickets, maps and scans while you have a connection. The boat will not give you one you can lean on.
What the guides leave to the fare pages
The guides stay out of money and route detail. The fare by headcount band lives on the charter page, the standard route on the 3D2N page, and the park package on the park fees page. Read those once, then use the guides.
They also stay out of booking steps. Deposit, balance and payment fees by channel sit on the booking page: 50 percent down, the rest 30 days before sailing. Short, then, on purpose.
If a guide answers less than you need, send us the question, and expect a written reply in office hours. Nobody minds, and the answer helps the next leader too. Hours are Daily 08:00–20:00 (WITA), and the reply is written, so it can go straight into your group chat.
FAQ
Do groups fly or sail to Komodo?
Groups fly to Labuan Bajo, and the boat is the trip, not the transport. Arfisyana sails round trip from the Labuan Bajo port. The guides assume you land in town the day before sailing, and the hotel page covers that night.
Where is the full rooming table for a group of 20?
In the guide on who sleeps where. It sets out the 3 + 3 split in the two Master Cabins, then 4, 6 and 4 in the Sharing Rooms, which makes 20. That is 18 standard beds, plus the two extra beds in the Master Cabins.
